SwimWorks: ParentTot Class

We’re so excited that SwimWorks Swim School is now offering Parent Tot and Private lessons at the Salvador Perez Swimming Pool.

We have been looking for weekly ongoing lessons, and SwimWorks is now proving that! SwimWorks was so kind and offered a free camp to us, and 6 of our friends to try out their lessons. I was shocked that they would offer us (and our pals) something so valuable for free, but it really is a testament to how wonderful their classes are and that they were confident that we would all sign up haha.

These lessons are the perfect amount of time, 30 minutes so not too long and not too short that I feel like it’s a waste of effort of getting into the pool. Classes are small, it almost feels like a private lesson! We rotated through different “skills” such as blowing bubbles, scooping for toys, laying on their back, crab walking and climbing out of the pool - this was a particularly great skill C learned in case he ever needs to get out on his own.

I can’t say enough about how wonderful the teachers are. Lauren and Sean are both so attentive to each child, they really “get” them and respond to each child’s energy. It was amazing to watch them work. They made C feel super comfortable, and when he was getting cranky, they figured out activities that he would be interested (mostly throwing toys into the water lol). The main point: I didn’t feel like they were pressuring him, and they focused on creating positive psychological associations with being in the water. C is okay with being dunked in the water, but we’ve been to classes where babies are forced to do this and then are traumatized. Lauren and Sean let every kid go at their own pace, and by the end of the week, everyone was comfortable with going underwater!
